Baden Powell de Aquino, better known simply as Baden Powell, was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists and guitar composers of his time. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing, and performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and Brazilian Popular Music.

This release presents his second album as a leader: Um violão na madrugada. Three 1959 tracks featuring Baden Powell with a similar group, as well a version of his composition "Consolação" recorded by the guitarist with American flutist Herbie Mann have been added as a bonus.
